Over the last couple of years J.A.F Angler Luke Davis and Skipper Neil Douglas from the vessel Destiny have been adventuring to the Wangenalla banks, situated 300 nautical miles from the top of New Zealand the Banks is considered one of the Stripe marlin meccas of the world. Since their first trip in 2015, Neil and the team from Yeehaa tackle have learnt a lot about the Banks and have produced better numbers each season.
With the amount of fish available on the banks they get to test new techniques and have often enjoyed quadruple hook ups on angry stripe marlin. It's also not uncommon while hooked up, to have more marlin free swimming around the boat. This has resulted in many fish being hooked and landed on stick-baits which is an awesome sight.
The teams best result to date happened in June 2016 where they caught and released ninety four stripe Marlin in four days fishing. Recently they have returned from another trip which produced eighty seven Stripe Marlin for the team which included Captain Neil Douglas and anglers Marc Taylor, Mark Scobie, Steve Morgan, Robert Davis and Luke Davis.
Here is a selection of photos from the latest trip.
